I have always been an avid reader but never fully appreciated the amount of work which went into creating a novel until, with great arrogance, I sat down and attempted to write one myself.

I think that there are certain rules which should be adherred to but I also think that rules are meant to be broken.

Writing is something that can become a passion, no matter how late in life one begins.

Sitting at a keyboard, trying desperately finding the best way to phrase something, often runs over into bedtime, with one's brain not allowing sleep whilst it continues to attempt to solve the problem. Writing can mean 'Blood, Sweat and Tears.'

'There are three rules for writing the novel. Unfortunately no one knows what they are.'
W. Somerset Maughan (1874 - 1965)
'Writing is not something to be ashamed of, but do it in private and wash your hands afterwards.'
Robert Heinlein (1907 - 1988)
'Writing is easy: All you do is sit staring at a blank sheet of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead.'
Gene Fowler.
